Video game translation

English to Dutch

As an experienced and reliable translator, I can help you localize your game to Dutch and give it the chance to be discovered and loved by a whole new market! I have been working as a translator for over 8 years and have worked with amazing Game Localization companies like Testronic Labs, From the Void and Sound in Words.

When translating, I greatly enjoy working with ‘spoken’ text and colloquial language: it is a great challenge to find the ‘voice’ of a character and match the translation to this voice to make it sound natural and appealing.

I also enjoy being able to do my part to make the world of video games more inclusive and accessible to everyone. Not only by making the game feel natural in Dutch, making sure Dutch gamers get the same experience as native English speakers when playing the game, but also by working on inclusive games to make those available to the Dutch market.

I have had the priviledge to work on some truly amazing games! Please check out my portfolio to see a selection of them.

Book translation

English to Dutch

In addition to games, I have worked on a number of book translations in collaboration with publisher BBNC.

These books include exciting excape room books, perplexing puzzle books and calming creative books.

Working on these translations brings many interesting challenges with it, and I have discovered the ins and outs of crossword making, have dissected puzzles to figure out how the visual hints and codes would lead to an answer in English and then how I could rework them to make them work in Dutch and have learned a host of fun facts about art, trains, tarot and many more subjects.

Ever since I was a child I have loved books and reading, so it has been a dream come true to have a dedicated shelve holding a growing number of books that I have worked on, with my name inside!

Other projects and volunteering

Fun stuff

I am also involved with some other jobs and projects, both professionally and as a volunteer.

Kodama Camp

Together with a small group of friends, I organise and run a yearly event for (and by) fans of games and anime. We go camping in the woods of Ommen for a week and enjoy playing games, roasting marshmallows and building community. Find our website here. (Dutch only, sorry!)

Board and card games

I have worked on some physical games made by my friend. Read more about these projects by clicking the link below.
